OVHcloud Review: Avoid them like the plague
Some weeks ago I stated to look into storage servers to rent. I found several options includingn one from OVHcloud. The option I was looking at was Advance Stor 2.
It wasn’t available then.
Last Saturday, it became available.
Compared to a provider like IONOS, OVH will charge you a hefty setup fee of 80 Euros (for the monthly rolling contract option) for a server that costs 140 Euros. The advertised price for the server didn’t include VAT too. So whereas the server was stated as costing 130 Euros, the actual amount I had to pay when I ordered was a solid 280 Euros.
Compare that to Ionos — going for the monthly rolling contract option results in only a 10GBP increase monthly in the price you pay, without any ridiculous setup fees.
Anyways, they advertised that the Advance Stor 2 server will be available in 120s. It’s not been 3 calendar days and 6 working hours since I ordered. Well beyond what was advertised.
I had the misfortune of only checking out their TrustPilot page after I placed my order. Unsurprisingly, they have a 2.9 out of 5 stars with a long list of customers complaining about ridiculous wait times for server delivery and not getting a respond to support tickets they opened.
The pricing they have can look attractive, but if you need a reliable provider who treats their customers respectfully, OVHcloud is not the provider you should go for.
